Anyway, the conclusion was that if you divide the cards into two piles, one pile will have the same number of black cards as the other pile has red cards. I believe that knowing this isn't very useful in daily life and isn't overly complicated.

It might be slightly helpful if you're familiar with card counting in blackjack. However, remember that you now need to memorize not only the numbers but also the colors. Statistically, if you're aware that there are, let's say, more black cards in the unknown pile of cards, it might increase the likelihood of drawing a numbered card from the black set.
