Why do people often claim that internet companies aim to turn us into zombies and manipulate our minds, when the truth is much simpler? The ads you see are based on how much time you spend on a page or video – it's all about companies trying to maximize their profits. If you find soemthing that's working, you will maximize that something. It's not as intricate as some make it out to be. We, as humans, aren't clever enough to intentionally "zombie" someone, at least not intentionally. And if there is something intentionally in this direction, well, it's kinda amazing
