I wrote years ago about Mat Watson from Carwow: his reviews often skip things that actually matter, and he throws in a lot of subjective nonsense. Like complaining about VW’s touchscreen instead of physical buttons—sure, I don’t like it either, but that doesn’t mean it’s automatically bad for everyone. He moans about things not fitting his personal taste, as if that’s some universal truth.
And today I saw a short from MKBHD doing the exact same thing. He’s upset that Samsung’s latest update makes you swipe down twice to access settings—one swipe shows notifications, the second brings up quick settings. He says, “No one should copy Samsung.” Why? Just because he doesn’t like it? Maybe someone else prefers it that way! And the kicker: he even admits in the same video that you can change it back to the old behavior with a simple setting. So what’s he whining about? It’s pointless complaining for the sake of complaining.
Honestly, we don’t need these self-important “preferences” shoved down our throats. It can be funny if someone’s bias is presented creatively, but most of the time it’s just annoying.
